    Tungsten Heavy Alloys

    Material Introduction:

    Tungsten heavy alloy is a kind of alloy using tungsten as matrix and adding a small amount of nickel, iron, copper and other alloying elements, with the characteristics such as: high and adjustable density (~ 18.5g/cm3), good absorption ability of high-energy radiation (1/3 higher than the absorptivity of lead ray), low coefficient of thermal expansion (4 ~ 6×10-6/℃), good plasticity, high strength and elasticity modulus, machinability and weldability.


     Tungsten Nickel Copper alloys also has non-magnetic property, which make them extensively used in radiation protection with sensitive environment.




    Material Property:
    - High Density:Max as 18.8 g/cm3
    - High Strength:Tensile strength as 700-1000 MPa.
    - Excellent Radiation Protection:Tungsten alloy is 1.7 times than Lead in radiation protection capability with same thickness.
    - The Coefficient of Thermal Conductivity: The thermal conductivity coefficient of tungsten alloy is 5 times of die steel.
    - Small Thermal Expansion Coefficient: Tungsten thermal expansion coefficient is 4~6×10-6/℃, only iron or steel 1/2-1/3.
    - Good Plasticity, Machining and Welding Capability.
    - Compared with lead toxicity, tungsten alloy is zero damage of environment. Radiation detectors made by tungsten alloy has no harm to human body.
    - Compared with tungsten nickel copper alloy, tungsten nickel iron alloy has ferromagnetic property, and the mechanical properties, processing properties are better than tungsten copper nickel alloy.
    - Compared with tungsten nickel iron alloy, tungsten nickel copper alloy has unique performance with non–magnetic environment.

    Application:

    Radiation protection and guidance: Because of its high density (~18.8 g / cm3), and excellent X-ray, gamma ray absorptive capacity, excellent process ability, making Tungsten Nickel Iron alloy become ideal material for radiation therapy collimator and protection components.



    Balance weights: It is widely used in automobile crankshaft counterweight, oil weight, security defense, precision optical instruments, due to the magnetic properties, high proportion of tungsten copper nickel alloy especially for in the aviation electron system.

    航空航天用部件:钨镍铁合金具有高温强度高及耐冲刷烧蚀等性能,广泛应用于航空航天用部件。

    Production Process:

    According to customer's drawings, the production process of tungsten shields is divided into seven stages, including material mixing, pressing, sintering, molding, thermal treatment, machining and assembly.

    We strictly select and check each batch of raw materials and inspect each technology implementation process, and then after the almost demanding finished product inspection, we ultimately guarantee the high quality of each piece of tungsten shield delivered to the customers.

    - ATTL has largest and most advanced Tungsten Heavy Alloy R&D and manufacturing equipment in China. We can provide D550mm*680mm size products and our monthly yield capacity is over 300 tons.

    Success Case: Alice Project:
