Molybdenum Rare Earth Alloys

Material Property:

TZM alloy is the most outstanding molybdenum alloy high temperature material at present. It is a solid solution hardening and particle strengthened molybdenum alloy. TZM is harder than pure molybdenum metal, and has higher recrystallization temperature and better creep resistance degeneration. The recrystallization temperature is about 1400℃, far higher than that of Mo, can provide better solderability.

MHC belongs to the particle reinforced molybdenum alloy, which contains carbon and hafnium. As ultra fine carbides distribute uniformly, the material in 1550℃ temperature conditions still shows the advantages of heat resistance and creep resistance. The recommended highest use temperature is 150℃ higher than TZM. For example, when used in the extrusion die, it can withstand the extreme thermal load and mechanical load, so MHC material is recommended for the application of metal forming.

MoZrO2, a small amount of zirconium oxide (ZrO2) adding to the pure molybdenum, which can enhance the corrosion resistance and creep resistance of molybdenum.

Adding rare earth elements can not only improve the molybdenum recrystallization temperature and high temperature creep resistance, but also significantly reduce the brittle transition temperature of molybdenum, increase the ductility, improve the brittleness of the room temperature brittleness and high temperature anti sagging ability.

Application:

Due to its excellent high temperature strength, high recrystallization temperature and good thermal conductivity, TZM alloy is widely used in the field of aviation and spaceflight, such as nozzle material, gas distribution valve, gas pipeline materials, electronic tube grid material, X-ray rotating anode parts, die casting, extrusion die, heating body and heat shield in the high temperature furnace, etc.

MHC alloys can be widely used in the field of metal forming applications.

Rare earth molybdenum wire is mainly used for electric light source filament, electric spark machining electrode and high temperature furnace heating element, etc.

The rare earth molybdenum plate, sheet can be stamped into wafer controlled by silicon, electronic tube shield and guide plate etc.

Rare earth molybdenum alloy can be used as high-quality steel hot piercing plug, aerospace and nuclear industry materials, X-ray target, die casting and extrusion die.

Rare earth molybdenum special-shaped products can be used as glass melting electrode, rare earth smelting electrode, crucible, high temperature sintering boat, high-temperature radiation heat shield, flow mouth, guide rail, plate, etc.

Rare earth molybdenum alloy can also be used as a hot cathode material for high power electron tube. Rare earth molybdenum alloy hot cathode material can take place of current brittle tungsten cathode that has high working temperature, and radioactive contamination, can greatly reduce the working temperature of the tube and improve the reliability.

Production Process:

The density of TZM, MHC and molybdenum rare earth alloy is close to the theoretical density by the method of static pressure molding, high temperature sintering and free forging, so as to obtain the best high temperature performance.
